While Matt Ryan is not ranked in the ESPN Top 60 in the 2015 Rankings, he has still received major college interest. In addition to offers from programs like Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, Pittsburgh, Iowa State, West Virginia, Arizona State, Clemson, Boston College, Creighton, Davidson, Providence and Harvard, he has been in contact with Kentucky, North Carolina and Duke. He has yet to receive an offer from those three schools, but offers may be around the corner.
Matt Ryan recently told me that he believes he is close to an offer from Duke, “I got the most interest a player can get before an offer. Hopefully next time they come up to see me.” Matt Ryan believes his shooting ability is a key to Duke’s interest, saying “they are extremely interested because of how I shoot it.” With just three known offers in the 2015 class, an offer to Matt Ryan seems likely.
Not only is Duke interested in Matt Ryan, Ryan has shown a lot of interest in Duke. In my interview with him back in October, he sang praise toward Duke “The biggest thing I like about Duke is there successful history and making players into professionals. They are a national championship contender every single year and have the most respected coach in college basketball. They also have very prestigious academics which is very attractive.” Should Duke offer him, they would quickly rise towards the top of his list. Even before Duke’s offer, he said he “plans to have Duke in my final five this time next year!”
Duke and Matt Ryan appear to be a natural fit for each other, so an offer should come soon. He is trying to get down to Duke in the next few months for a visit. Matt Ryan’s name has stayed under the radar so far, but it should be featured a lot soon. Both Matt Ryan and I expect an offer to come soon. Hopefully the offer results in a commitment from one of the top shooters in the 2015 class.
